Green Lakes State Park was part of a Revolutionary War soldier’s compensation tract surveyed in 1792 and settled in 1817 by David Collin III. Collin’s descendents sold the land to New York State in 1928. The park opened in 1930. It features two rare meromictic glacial lakes – surface waters do not mix with bottom waters. Round Lake is 180 feet deep, Green Lake 195 feet deep. Our venue, the original administration building, was a 1930’s Works Progress Administration (WPA) project designed by architect Laurie B. Cox and constructed of native stone and heavy timber. Read more information on Green Lakes State Park.
